Delegation, everyone knows it’s important for a business, and the concepts of outsourcing, hiring someone virtually or remotely are covered often on online business circles. Perhaps you are apprehensive about hiring a virtual assistant, or need someone not to do work you would do, but take on their own accountability.
I’ve been thinking a lot about management lately.
I’ve taken on team members or regular familiar freelancers [can’t really call them an employee unless you want to provide benefits] vs. a virtual assistant or some remote service, to manage work, so there’s more space to grow, and launch, vs doing new tasks and managing current users.
What would this employee look like? What would their skills be I wondered.
What would an employee look like to you in simple bullet points?
Here’s what I came up with.
- makes %75 income of all projects he handles
- manages an @itarsenal.com e-mail address
- get’s paid by me, likely from PayPal, monthly
- work flows through me, through my e-mail for the most part in the initial phase
- how to quantify workload? [difficult]
- prevent from taking clients, non-compete
- responsive
- handle applicable tasks according to documented procedures
- skills needed?
- amazing customer service character
- wordpress
- hosting company expertise
- registrar company expertise
- ftp programs
- php, css, html knowledge
- various web service backend experience, or confidence in figuring out and navigating most any secondary support service (ifttt, manageWP, doit.im, facebook pages, bit.ly, etc, etc)
Great! Now I have a list to hand out, or use on job boards, and now I’ve done the thinking to realize whether I really want someone or not to take this on….and all I set out to do was get a picture of what an employee might look like in my business environment.
What mights yours look like?
