For Mac Users try : http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/food/e...

It's an eggtimer for Dashboard. Quite useful, when you want to time things and also disconnect from the internet, for example if your trying to block out distractions.

Thanks for the comment! Totally right, you need a clear cut task to use a countdown of any kind.

If you don't have a tasks like: write this comment, take out the trash, empty out my inbox of 12 e-mails...putting a timer on it is going to be frustrating as you jump around from task to task in some larger project. Good clarification!

I've found that the egg timer doesn't work for me so well because some projects just take a lot of time, and I like to complete things in one sitting, but I guess for things like this (commenting on great posts) the egg timer should be used. And asking yourself specific questions about what you want, what you're afraid of, all the possible bad outcomes...those are pretty standard from my 4 Hour Workweek reading.

I totally agree. I ignored putting thought into specific time counting tactics. I would "block" off hours or time to do something but there was never any strict countdown or watch. e.ggtimer really does push my effort. the fact is shows the countdown in the tab title and brings your attention when its finished is stellar.

I haven't tried e.ggtimer yet. Thanks for the reminder.

You know, I'd hate to say that I am becoming a @tferriss groupie, but I think I am. LOL. Nice to see someone taking personal initiative to work some T. Ferriss magic in their own life. :) BTW, I like Ramit for his down-to-earth nature.

Me, I have started cutting out the emails, limiting email times to 2xday, let the phone go to voicemail, cut down on the TV time (noTV Friday last week - was great!). And I have produced great results by getting the important things in my life attended to. So, I can't wait to see further results.

Now my husband and I are going to start searching out products for a business. Looking forward. Glad to have found your blog via Girl Startup. Keep up the great work. :)

What also is good is that you are learning to not to give-up. Most people, myself included would ask once, hear the rejection and then never bother to try again. It does sound like your on the right path :)

That was a good blog post and very timely. Good on you for assessing what happened and whilst still not giving up on emailing Ramit. We have too many preconceived ideas!
