Good stuff Robert. For most people it's getting though that first step that's killer. But the good part about that is if 95% of people can't get the first small step accomplished, getting it done yourself reduces the competition by 95%.

Great structure here :D Rebooting is definitely necessary, but breaks are equally important. I love your enthusiasm and way of leading by example. Something I strive to do as well.

Rebooting for me includes a good soak in the sauna, yoga or pilates session to clear my head. I find that relaxing or doing the complete opposite by shocking my system like sand running and finishing with a freezing dive through the waves does the trick. That or travel! Experiencing something new gives me new perspective and inspiration.

Nice work!

Wow, see this is why I love comments. You guys seem to have a handle on a semi regular mental reboot of sorts. It was really encouraging to hear others in need of this or already doing something similar. Thanks guys, things have really picked up in terms of progress since following through on this.

@Johnny Thanks dude.
@Sid Nice technique, I've tried it but because I tried setting my start pages as my default page, I quickly started just ignoring it by default also.
@Colin "not-as-productive-as-I-could-have-been" is actually what prompted me to start this reboot. I couldn't agree more, and know exactly what you mean with the haircut. There's just something great about a reset mindset and a haircut...the power of the fresh...re-start.

Heya :)

Cool detailed step by step guide how to reboot! I have the same thing that I just don't feel like working on something!

I think the best way is to once a year take a good 3-6 week vacation to totally recharge :)

Cheers

Hey Rob,

Interesting - looks a lot like one of the processes in my weekly review, but I like the addition of information sources

I use start pages in my browser to keep myself focused, I put them online for anyone to use:

http://sidsavara.com/start-pages

Still working on adding more =). Keep me focused throughout the day, but a weekly/monthly reboot doesn't hurt ;)

I think I am ready for a reboot. It is easy to get caught up in everyday busyness and not focus on priorities.

I haven't been very successful clearly defining everything I want to accomplish. I am afraid that overly planning everything will de-humanize the process of personal development and exploration.

I definitely see the value and importance of your approach though. Maybe it is time for my first "annual review" like Alan recommends.

Yes! Everyone needs a good reboot from time to time, and you've outlined a really nice method of doing so here.

I went through a mini-reboot last night; definitely needed after several days of not-as-productive-as-I-could-have-been living (it's tricky to mix work with trying to establish a social life from scratch, let me tell you!).

I find that doing something to change the way I look or feel helps when I reboot...for example, I finally went and got a haircut today. It's a physical manifestation of the mental changeover, and it always seems to help 'lock in' the changes that are made for me.

Interesting mind-mapping technique, Rob. I've been gearing up for my own Annual Review in December where I plan to map out the next few years of my life. For now, though, I'm only quasi-organized. This brain reboot technique is good to do on a regular basis.

I really like how you're using specific examples in your posts. It helps readers like me hold on to what you're saying. You're practicing what you're preaching brother!
